This page will mention some of the programs available to Current and Prospective Students:

Lesson Programs:

A Wilderness Trail Equestrian Center offers beginner through advanced Western and English horseback riding lessons in a relaxed environment.  The focus of our program is on horse care and safety in addition to horseback riding.  We do not allow you to be "just a passenger on a horse".    We teach riding and horsemanship skills to students who are serious about learning, at least 6 years of age, and take lessons on a consistent, weekly basis.  Grooming and tacking are included in your one hour lesson.   Children beginning 6 years of age as well as adults are welcome.   Riding lessons are held daily and year round by appointment in our outdoor arena.  Professional instruction is offered at the following rates:

  •  1 hour private lesson       $50.00

What you need to take lessons?

HELMETS: It is required that all riding students.

We can provide helmets for new riders but we suggest that you purchase your own .  A Troxel or any ASTM/SEI certified riding helmet similar to the one above can typically be purchased at the Tractor Supply or Tenney's in Zephyrhills for around $35.

FOOT WEAR:  Paddock or riding boots are strongly recommended.  At a minimum, a boot with a heel is required.    The reasoning behind this is that with a heeled-shoe, you will not easily get your foot caught in the stirrup.   Tennis shoes are not permitted for safety reasons.

JEANS: Breeches, riding pants, half chaps or chaps are recommended.  If you do not own chaps or riding pants, then jeans are suggested.

GIFT CERTIFICATES: If you know someone who may be interested in trying out riding, pre-paid gift certificates are available for riding lessons.

WE GO YEAR-ROUND:  We teach all year as long as the weather and footing permits.  We have an outdoor riding ring.
